When Jordan Kilian (CEO) and the founders of Float Cannabis Company first approached Sostanza, they had a clear, vision: to lead Minnesota’s newly legal, emerging cannabis market by establishing the state’s most advanced indoor cultivation and pharmaceutical-grade processing facility in Rochester.
To support this high-stakes venture, Sostanza stepped in as the end-to-end master consultant. We provided a complete suite of services including complex financial modeling, detailed facility layout, fertigation engineering, equipment vetting, and complete GACP-aligned standard operating procedures (SOPs). Collaborating closely with Float’s engineers, builders, and management, the facility went from empty plot to fully built in a record-breaking six months.

2. Complete Indoor Layout & MEP Design
Our team created an optimized room-to-room spatial design tailored to Minnesota’s strict regulatory climate. We designed mother, clone, veg, and flower rooms to maximize canopy space while strictly isolating processing, solventless extraction, and dry/cure facilities to meet GACP safety requirements.

3. Advanced Fertigation & Custom Irrigation Design
Sostanza planned a custom automated fertigation loop mapped directly to their planned cultivar matrix. By selecting energy-efficient, precise dosing lines and integrating them with automated feedback sensors, we gave their growers the ability to steer crop quality while significantly lowering operational water and nutrient waste.​

4. Vetting & Equipment Sourcing
Navigating the equipment market can lead to massive capital waste. Sostanza acted as an independent advisor, helping the Float team select, negotiate, and source horticultural LED lighting, HVAC systems, and rolling benches tailored to their specific load requirements and geographical conditions.​

5. GACP-Ready SOP Implementation & Commissioning
Sostanza provided a complete Cultivation and Post-Harvest SOP Package. During the commissioning stage, we guided their newly onboarded operators in crop management, system integration, and chemical tracking protocols. Our ongoing consulting ensures the facility remains highly efficient and continues to perform at its peak.
