Cannabis Connoisseur Company (CCC) partnered with Sostanza to establish an elite micro-business footprint in Burnsville, Minnesota. Holding a provisional Micro Business License, the team aimed to optimize up to 5,000 sq ft of canopy space while integrating on-site processing (solventless pressing, vape cartridge filling), product packaging, secure vault storage, and a boutique retail experience within their local footprint.

Led by Nick Hussein (CEO), the CCC team prioritized craft excellence and unique genetics. To protect their premium flower from physical degradation and preserve volatile terpene profiles, they set a strict operational requirement: achieving pharmaceutical-grade, ultra-low microbial baselines to entirely bypass physical irradiation. Sostanza stepped in to guide them through site selection, full facility design, environmental zoning, and custom GACP-ready standard operating procedures (SOPs).

1. Agile Site Selection and Spatial Optimization​
Site transitions are a common hurdle in emerging legal states. When CCC faced structural changes with their initial property, Sostanza acted as an active partner to assess structural alternatives and optimize space. We modeled an 8,120 sq ft facility layout utilizing double-tier rolling benches to maximize mother and vegetative capacity, ensuring high yields on a compact physical footprint.​

2. Environmental Engineering for Zero-Irradiation Compliance
Eliminating post-harvest irradiation requires flawless sanitation and mechanical control.
Sostanza addressed this challenge through rigorous design interventions:

Structural Hygiene: Integrated specialized antimicrobial Trusscore PVC wall and ceiling board systems into the buildout to eliminate moisture pockets and bacterial growth.

Advanced Climate and Airflow: Oversaw the integration of dedicated split systems, sizing load distributions to eliminate microclimates, preventing warm stagnant air pockets that invite mold.

Zoning & Odour Mitigation: Designed clean workflows separating clean crop zones from post-harvest trimming, dry/cure rooms, solventless extraction, and on-site retail, while integrating professional carbon filtration systems to mitigate local odour concerns.

3. Horticultural Sourcing and Vetting
Our consultants guided CCC through critical equipment selection, ensuring capital expenditures were highly optimized. We vetted light options (such as heavy-duty GC LED units) and engineered clean, automated nutrient lines to ensure uniform feeding while planning spatial transitions from propagation and mother stock directly into active flower rooms.​

4. Clean-Room SOP Package Development
To establish early commercial consistency, Sostanza built a complete GACP-ready SOP and form package.
